A few glamour photos with very low available light: just two household regular lamps. It was two different lamps with a different color temperature. One a little cooler, one warmer. and it helped to create interesting colors theme. No studio lights, even no on camera flash.

Ongoing project “A Lonely Tango"

|

6015_Iveta_Tango_05_200W5990_Iveta_Tango_05_300H This photo is from my one of the favorites projects “A Lonely Tango”. It’s not about Tango, not about dance. This project is about … actually about Love. Tango is a three-minute romance. Love, anguish, excitement, jealousy, … all in three minutes of dance…

Tango is “background”, theme and a ‘connecting link”  in my project.

I started this project a couple of years ago with my best friend and tango partner Iveta. (yes, I use to dance tango) .. We have done a couple of photo sessions and unfortunately stopped.  I think it is a really great project and I should continue with this series..

DSC1920_200W_sRGBI think it is a very good idea to look through your old photos. Sometimes you can find  some surprises. Like this one. It was a photo shoot with awesome model Oksana for her modeling portfolio.

I remember we were done with a few different sets/themes.. all in one day. I edited a few photos @ that time and … I just found this one. really good photo! Why I missed it before? :-)

I love to work with Jessica Yurash! She is a very experienced model and actress. We have worked together two times before, and each time I was amazed at how easily and creatively she takes directions from the photographer. She always adds something personal to any idea. The first shooting was meant to be a test shoot, but it became a real creative photo session just because of her excellent work and talent.

The photo on the left is from our second session. We drove on highway 9, and stopped for some shooting in a local restaurant in Boulder Creek. Then we drove up to Big Basin Redwood Forest. The redwoods are one of my favorite places to go for outdoor fashion photography. The natural backgrounds are very rich and "juicy" in color, and the light is soft, so with two external flashes I have full control of the light. Usually I use natural lighting as my main light, and then the two flashes are for highlights and emphasis.

It’s so easy now making Panoramas in Photoshop SC4. I remember a tried it a few years ago … took me long time. Now, in Photoshop SC4 it take just a few clicks, couple of minutes.. and it’s ready.

A Florence Panorama I made in a few minutes. It’s from my seven years ago trip to Italy.

Photo reportage from Fall 2009 Fashion week at Santana Row.sr_a
San Jose's largest fashion show with HMM's top 25 runway models.

========================

The show was amazing, but difficult to shoot .
Management - A+! Music, Lights, Models were perfect… but for photography it was not easy.  The show started @ 7:00 pm and finished around 8:30. It’s a sunset time, so light changed from daylight to dark and I had to check white balance and all camera settings every 15 min. BTW, thanks Nikon D700 – with high ISO settings I was able to use my 80-200 lenses with decent shutter speed.
But finally, I really enjoyed the show, got great photos, good experience, met new people and got a free bottle of water. Very nice girl Nicole from event staff gave it to me. Thanks Nicole, I was so thirsty :-) Here is her photo. -->>

=============

It was my second party with HMM, and it was great.  Personally for me it was even better because a lot of times instead of saying “ Nice to meet you” I was able to say “Good to see you again”.
I was happy to meet again with Traci  – the owner of the agency, who is an absolutely charming and hospitable person.  Frank Anzalone – talented photographer and great man. Oh! I forgot ! I promised him to send a photos from this party! I should do it right after I finish this post….

And of course… models, models, models… what a pleasure to be a photographer on Models Party! … Easy shooting ! Can’t miss! :-)

Here are some photos from this party. Enjoy !
